Who is this small amazing blue-coloured creature jumping on your screen? Is that the famous Sonic?..
The games about the blue hedgehog are so popular that it does not really matter anymore what they are about - we just love following the adventures of Sonic and his friends.
But what do we know about Sonic?
Initially Sonic is a character from Sega videogames, and he got his name because of his ability to run with ultrasonic speed. The appearance of Sonic has considerably changed with the time - his proportions, clothes and the length of the spines varied from game to game - however, his blue colour is constant, and the reason for this is not known for sure. One of the possible reasons for this blue colour is said to be his having overcome the ultrasonic barrier - after he had done it for the first time ever, he turned blue and stayed blue ever since.
As for the character of Sonic, it differs from one game to another. In most of the games he enjoys running and is a very adventurous person... or should I say - animal? His favourite occupation and hobby is saving the world. He is heroic and impulsive, and these features constitute his charm.
And now about the Sonic games. The brave little hedgehog started waging a war against his main enemy Doctor Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog game by Sega Genesis. In the game's sequel Sonic obtained a mate and partner - Tails the Fox who followed him everywhere and helped him. In the games Sonic has to travel through the time and space so that to save the world. From one game to another, Sonic has been having exciting adventures - and his fans are able to enjoy the excellent graphics, interesting gameplay and, obviously, the supersonic speed. You are virtually able to turn into Sonic for the time you are playing this game! By the way, in some games about Sonic the graphics is anime-style.
There are also TV-series and movies featuring Sonic ('Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog', 'Sonic Underground', 'Sonic the Hedgehog Anime»', 'Sonic X', 'Sonic OVA' ('Sonic The Movie')) and some comic series about the blue hedgehog.
What is so special about Sonic? Well, obviously, he is the fastest hedgehog in the world, and his colour also makes him to stand out from the rest of the hedgehogs.
